Boating is in our DNA. We’ve been part of the boating community on Moosehead Lake for over 40 years!

The Gilbert family has been boating on Moosehead Lake for over 55 years! It all started when Henry and Clementine Gilbert (Mark Sr’s parents) purchased the 1964 Ventnor 26 Sedan known as the “Pussy Cat” in 1965. The Chrysler 318 V8 had an exhaust note that was sure to let folks know who was out there when it started up! To this day, the Pussy Cat still resides in Rockwood with us awaiting restoration.

Being a part of a small, close-knit community is rewarding and very humbling. We do our share of travelling during the off-season and are fortunate to have visited some stunning destinations. However, we always find ourselves reminding each other of how fortunate we are to have made our lives right here on Moosehead Lake. It’s massive and untouched wilderness captivates even the most busy-minded individuals. Our neighbors and fellow business owners are helpful, kind and resilient people. We all support one another, cheer for each other and celebrate each other’s victories. Most of all, we continually remind ourselves about the ties that bind this region and the folks that make it happen. We proudly support the Rockwood Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Maine State Trooper’s Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, C.A. Dean Hospital and the American Legion.

For us, it all started back in 1979 when owner Mark Gilbert began his tenure in the marine business. Alongside his brother-in-law, they brought a fresh feel and new ideas to Moosehead Lake. Offering Wellcraft and Sea Ray boats collectively for nearly 15 years, they established a reputation for selling quality products and unmatched service. Many of those Wellcraft and Sea Ray boats sold between 1983 and 1997 are still cruising the lake today!

In 1997, Mark decided to make the move to an older facility at 21 Northern Road in Rockwood where he grew up and resides today. Construction began in 1998 with 62 deep water slips, a concrete launch ramp and 200′ waterside deck. Months later, a 6,000sf service building and a 15,000sf rack storage building were built and it’s where we still reside today. Over 20 years later, Mark continues to invest back into the business alongside his son, Mark Jr. and a stellar team of dedicated professionals that strive to exceed all your boating needs.
